![[New!]](images/smallnew.gif) SCEC hosted an Accreditation Site Visit on November 30 to December 1, 2006 for the purpose of attaining full accreditation with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. Approximately 45 former students, placement site administators, and Board of Director members participated in discussion and support of the Center. The site team consisted of three ACPE Supervisors and a supervisor in training.
SCEC Elects New Board Member at its Annual Meeting, December 14, 2006 -- The Rev. Dr. Mark Hill
- October, 2006 -- SCEC began its second unit of CPE for Fire Chaplains in coordination with Owens Community College. Partial funding for the program has come through a grant from the Toledo Community Foundation and the Anderson Foundation. There are three students in this CPE unit with two placements with the Rossford Volunteer Fire Department and one with the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department.
- January 15, 2007 -- The Spring 2007 units of CPE begin on this date. Placements include Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center, Dearborn, MI; Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, Wyandotte, MI; Oakwood Southshore, Trenton, MI; The Toledo Hospital/ Toledo Children's Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio - Detroit Avenue Campus, Toledo, OH; Bridge Hospice and Birchaven Retirement Commuinty, Findlay, OH; Lime Memorial Hospital and St. Rita's Mercy Medical Center, Lima, OH; MedCentral Hospital, Mansfield, OH; and Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH.
- January 29, 2007 -- We have received a negative decision on two grants from the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence program of St. Francis Retreat Center, DeWitt, M. We are exploring the reason that our grant applicaton was turned down so we can make another more acceptable approach. We hope to run a unit for youth at risk chaplains in the Fall.
- February 5, 2007 -- St. Joseph Mercy Health System, Ann Arbor, MI, one of our satellites begins its Spring unit of CPE on this date. The Rev. William Foster, System Coordinator for Spiritual Care, and a Supervisory Candidate with be supervising this unit under the supervision of David C. Koch, ACPE Supervisor.
